Description
Castrol Tribol GR 100 PD series greases (previously known as Castrol Longtime PD series) are lithium-based greases with highly refined mineral oils and our PD (Plastic Deformation) additive system.
The PD additive technology offers optimal wear protection and an extremely low coefficient of friction, even under extreme pressure loads, vibration, shock loads, at high and low speeds, and with varying surface roughness of the friction surfaces. Under high loads, components of the PD additive combination are activated, and plastic deformation optimizes the surfaces and their tribological properties. The organic reaction products become part of the tribopolymer system. In contrast to conventional lubricants, the tribopolymers created by the PD package are long-chain compounds with excellent lubrication and adhesion properties. The contact area of the surface is increased, and a hydrodynamic lubricating film is easier to maintain. This special physico-chemical reaction smooths the friction surfaces without increasing wear.
Application
Castrol Tribol GR 100 PD products are suitable for the long-term lubrication of highly stressed rolling and plain bearings, even under the most adverse operating conditions, such as extreme pressure, vibration, shock loads, and a wide temperature range (-35°C to +140°C). Typical applications include bearings in turning and milling spindles, geared motors subject to high shock loads, screen/wood molding machines, and the bearing surfaces of pressure plates. These greases are also suitable for bearings with a rotating outer ring that are subject to high loads due to centrifugal forces. Examples include spreader rolls, shaft journal bearings in steel mills, and bearings with alternating directions of rotation or pivoting movements. They can also be used in curved-tooth couplings and centralized lubrication systems.
Castrol Tribol GR 100-0 PD and 100-00 PD can be used as fluid greases for flange, drum, and worm gears. Both products are also suitable for use in gears without oil-tight housings and for gears and roller bearings with a grease reservoir.
Instructions for use
To minimize potential incompatibilities when switching to a new grease, the previously used lubricant should be removed as much as possible before commissioning. During the initial operating phase, relubrication intervals should be closely monitored to ensure that the previously used lubricant has been completely removed.
Advantages
Compared to conventional lubricating greases, Castrol Tribol GR 100 PD offers the following advantages:
- High load-bearing capacity - extended operating times under high loads and optimal wear protection
- Excellent lubrication and surface smoothing effects due to PD additives can reduce damage, resulting in less downtime and repair work. PD technology can lead to an extended service life of already damaged components.
- Formation of a PD protective layer - this additive system can effectively increase the load-bearing area and thus reduce pressure loads, operating temperatures and wear, so that the service life of the components
and the lubricant can be extended - The running-in effect of PD technology results in improved bearing surfaces and a longer service life
- Extremely low friction coefficients result in energy savings and lower noise levels
- Multipurpose product - Castrol Tribol GR 100-0 PD and 100-00 PD are highly recommended for rolling bearings with grease reservoir and leaking gears
- Easily pumpable in central lubrication systems - when using 100-0 PD or 100-00 PD
Do not apply excessive amounts of grease to gears running at high speed
