Shell Rimula R4 X contains specially selected additives that provide triple protection for extended engine and oil life. Shell Rimula R4 X helps reduce maintenance costs while increasing vehicle reliability. It is suitable for most heavy-duty diesel engines for on- and off-highway applications.

Characteristics

Protection against acids and corrosion

Shell Rimula R4 X protects against the formation of acidic components, thus preventing chemical corrosion in engines. Harmful acids from fuel combustion can be controlled and neutralized through the use of selected detergents, thus preventing corrosion of metal surfaces.

Protection against engine wear

Shell Rimula R4 X provides a high level of engine wear protection, especially in critical areas such as the valve train, piston ring, and cylinder liner. Wear protection is controlled by forming a protective film between the metal contacts of the various engine areas. Dispersant additives also keep dirt particles suspended, thus preventing wear.

Protection against deposits

Shell Rimula R4 X protects against the formation of oil deposits and oil thickening in all areas of the engine, including the formation of sludge and deposits in the cylinders. The selected additives in Shell Rimula R4 X, in particular, keep the engine cleaner than previous Shell Rimula R3 products.

High-technology for engines with low emissions

Shell Rimula R4 X meets the emission requirements of Euro 5, Euro 4, Euro 3 and Euro 2 engines and is therefore suitable for most low-emission engines.

Shell Rimula R4 X is suitable for use with biodiesel at OEM-recommended oil change intervals. For the latest low-emission engines, especially those equipped with diesel particulate filters (DPFs), we recommend the use of our low-emission products Shell Rimula R4 L or Shell Rimula R5 LE.
