High-performance hydraulic oil, Group II base oil technology, versatile applications

Shell Tellus S2 VX 46 is a high-performance hydraulic oil based on premium Group II base oils, offering outstanding protection and exceptional performance. It demonstrates excellent resistance to high temperatures and mechanical stress. It also offers a wide operating temperature range, making it suitable for use in mobile machinery and applications exposed to wide ambient temperature fluctuations.

Characteristics

Long oil life - saving on maintenance costs

Shell Tellus S2 VX 46 helps extend maintenance intervals for machinery and equipment thanks to its long-lasting resistance to thermal and chemical degradation. These properties minimize harmful sludge formation and support high reliability and system cleanliness.

Even in the presence of moisture, Shell Tellus S2 VX demonstrates high hydrolytic stability, supporting long oil life and reducing the risk of corrosion and rust formation in humid environments.

The extremely shear-stable viscosity-improving additives help to reliably maintain the oil properties within the oil usage intervals.

Outstanding wear protection

Tellus S2 VX was developed to meet the ever-increasing demands of future generations of hydraulic systems, including high load-carrying capacity in the FZG test. It demonstrates excellent performance in the demanding Denison T6H20C test (both dry and wet versions) and the Eaton Vickers 35VQ25 test. Shell Tellus S2 VX 46 helps enable extended component life.

Supporting consistently high system efficiency

Excellent filterability, outstanding water and air separation properties and prevention of foaming contribute to increasing the efficiency of hydraulic systems.

Complies with purity class 20/18/15 according to ISO 4406 and helps reduce filter blockages and increase filter life and system protection.

Shell Tellus S2 VX was developed to prevent foaming and provide excellent air release properties, supporting efficient power transmission and reducing the risk of cavitation.

Main areas of application

Mobile hydraulic systems

Mobile machinery and hydraulic systems operating outdoors without protection can be exposed to significant temperature fluctuations. The high viscosity-temperature index of Shell Tellus S2 VX 46 supports optimal response from cold start to full-load operation, enabling use in extreme environmental and operating conditions.

Precision Hydraulic Systems: In precision hydraulic systems, Shell Tellus S2 VX 46 helps maintain consistent viscosity throughout the entire operating cycle. Compared to ISO HM oils, Shell Tellus S2 VX 46 offers better viscosity-temperature behavior, which can improve system performance.

Hydraulic systems in shipping

Shell Tellus S2 VX 46 is suitable for use in the marine industry where products according to ISO HV are required.
