Shell Tonna S3 M 68

Demulsifying special oil for bedways and guideways of machine tools

Shell Tonna S3 M oils were specially developed for the lubrication of machine tool slideways and guideways. They are based on highly refined base oils and contain additives to improve aging stability, corrosion protection, adhesion, and reduce stick-slip. Tonna S3 M oils are particularly recommended for highest precision at low sliding speeds and in combined lubrication systems.

Excellent friction properties

During development, special attention was paid to reducing potential stick-slip problems, enabling accurate positioning at low sliding speeds. This supports high surface quality and dimensional accuracy of the workpieces.

Good slideway adhesion

Shell Tonna S3 M oils offer very good adhesion to the slideway surfaces, are resistant to washout by metalworking oils and thus help to reduce oil consumption and enable consistent working conditions of the machine.

Good separation of water-miscible cutting oils

It separates completely and quickly from water-miscible metalworking fluids and allows easy removal by deposition.

Excellent wear protection

Provides very good wear protection for slideways, gears, bearings and hydraulic systems, making the product also suitable for combined machine systems.

Excellent corrosion protection

Effectively protects machine surfaces and components, even in the presence of water-miscible cutting oils.

Slideways, work tables and feed mechanisms at
machine tools

Designed for wide application on a variety of slideway surfaces, including cast iron and synthetic materials.

Machine tools with hydraulic systems

Particularly recommended for machines with a combination of hydraulic and slideway systems.

Machine tools with gears and spindles

Also suitable for the lubrication of gears and spindle boxes. The lower viscosity grades are particularly suitable for horizontal slideways (Shell Tonna S3 M 32 or 68); for vertical slideways, Shell Tonna S3 M 220 is recommended.
